Had to get done at yard quite early this eve due to the lights not working and no one being in a hurry to fix them. (Stables are inside a barn)
Went up to sort ned out for the night and was just out the back getting straw when I noticed my ned was lame!!!! Went to have a look at why he was lame cut or something and found a small cut on the back of his leg so was no too worried. Carried on putting bed down and went to get him in. He was quite lame took his boots off (he is a self harmer at best of times so goes out with boots and overreach boots) and was
to find a chunk of his hoof missing under his overreach boots!!
YO comes down and just went oh and walked off!!!!! Thats it she didnt bother looking at it, asking what he had done it on or anything.
I hosed it to clean the mud out of it and thought I would bring him in and put him in one of the spare stables so I could have a good look at it as I had put my bed down and didnt want straw sticking to it. She then has a go and shuts the stable door and said you cant out him in there!!
So any how washed it cleaned it and put powder over it as wasnt really sure what to do with it.
Went round field to see if I could find what he had done it on and it was bloody pig wire fencing which I hate!!
I am at my whits end being put in that field all the time I hate the field as all that happens is my horse gets hurt in it!!
What should I do about his hoof? I am going to go up the yard in the morning with my head lamp and see how it is. I dont really want to put him out tomorrow as he will get muck in it again. Not 100% if he needs the vet but may call them just in case.
Sorry so long.
