I feel like I'm posting loads of questions at the mo so apologies!! :D

Cass has ALWAYS been a little greedy thing and never ever complained about whats in her feed bowl since I've had her!!

I changed her feed to Hi Fi Lite from Happy Hoof about a month ago to try and get her a little trimmer and for the first week or so she was fine, still gobbled it up. For the past few weeks though she eats the carrots out of the feed (I mix them all in) and then leaves the rest! In the morning it's eaten but I'm still a bit concerned.

Does it seem that maybe she just doesn't like the Hi Fi Lite (as it is very minimal and might be a bit boring)? Or could there be something wrong? She seems ok in herself and has been eating most of her hay/happily grazes.

Just like to add she had an infection about 2 months ago but is ok now apart from having a bit of a patchy coat, not sure if this could have anything to do with it.

If you think she's generally well in herself, then it's probably that she just doens't like the chop (I've known a few that won't eat it).

Does she need feeding though, if you trying to trim her down? Carrots are also a 'no, no' if you're trying to diet......

Lots of horses don't seem to find HiFi Lite very tasty - it is the sort of thing they don't really eat unless they are really hungry! Agree with AmyMay - does she really need a bucket feed?

She gets one carrot all chopped up... she has had this since forever, if I took that away I would feel terrible :D she isn't 'fat' as such, just a bit more porky than I would like after being off work through her infection! She definitely needs her dinner as she needs too many supplements (oil, linseed and brewers yeast for her coat/sweet itch) and is in light/medium work so needs the energy.

I'd put her on good old fashioned Hi Fi then.

Oil and linseed? Why not just one or tother (both will add shine and condition)..

She was just on the oil first and then I decided to convert to linseed but still had some oil left so thought I'd use it up, maybe shouldn't have used linseed til all the oil was gone but..... I am a panicking owner at the moment as Cassie has always had a super shiny coat and it is all dull and horrible (probably again down to the recent infection) and I can't stand it haha!

I think the grass is coming through and as others have said hi fi not very interesting really. Spec she crunches up her carrot though!!

If she is a little bit porky then she is already getting plenty of energy (energy=calories). HiFi Lite won't add anything to her diet that she is not already getting from her hay and grazing. I'd use the minimum of HiFi Lite necessary to get her supplements into her and then change to something more appetising when the bag is finished.

Ok then, thanks. It's very confusing if I'm honest what amount of feed to give as emailing round feed companies have said to give her a certain amount of feed a day (which I followed as assumed the advise was from a trusty source) but then others have advised little to no feed, all provided with the same information from me!! - Suppose I have to make up my own mind.

At the end of the day, you have to remember that feed companies are in business to sell feed, and you should interpret their advice with that in mind!
