I took my mums dales out in the field to do some jumping the other day but ended up just trying to get her to concentrate and slow up as she just wanted to rush everywhere and is very strong, so need to work on that

It got me thinking about when i start longreining and lunging my youngster (a while off yet), but I thought it would be a good idea to do this in the school and on grass to gain the respect on grass aswell.

maybe a silly question but does anyone work there horses on grass and in the school when they are young and do you find it benificial?

Yes working on grass has been beneficial for our young mare, she wasbacked in the school but ridden in the field as well at an early age, thenwemoved to a yard with no school and all work is on grass, very good for takingher to her first show which is obviously on grass and its what she's used to so it doesnt send her silly. We ride both horses in fields and even the tb now thinks its the norm and doesnt run off like she used to thinking grass areas were only for galloping in.
