Hey guys, thought i'd pop this in here as it is likely to get more views.

Brought Galaxy in tonight and was grooming her outside her stable. Another brought her horse in so i asked Galaxy to move over and she was very reluctant and got to a point where she wouldn't move over any more. When she did move it was tiny little ouchy steps. Thinking about it she was the same when i asked her to move Monday evening for another horse to come by. I put her on the walker last night and she seemed ok, but thinking about it now she was a little sluggish.

Anyway i brought her out on to the car park and asked her to move her hinds and cross through, well again she was reluctant and took tiny shuffle steps and her bum was a little tucked under, she was the same in both directions. One of the liveries said when i walked her out of the barn she looked like she was tip toeing. I asked her to back up and again very hesitant, tiny shuffle steps and at one point she leaned her body back rather than move her feet until she had to choice but to shuffle a little. I got a livery to ask her to back up so i could watch her and again she had her back end tucked under a little.

I don't know whats up with the poor girl? :(

This is the mare that i only have to verbally ask to move over or click my fingers by her side and she will move over and cross through with her hinds, and steps back confidently when asked to.

I'm going to put her hoof boots on her hinds tomorrow evening to see if she steps along, over and back more confidently, but i really don't think it is her feet as there was nothing ouchy under foot etc and her back end was a little tucked under.

Any ideas guys? She seems fine in herself apart from that, but i'm stumped, all i can think is she is tight somewhere or cramp type pains after a first season? My poor little flower :(

Abscess brewing somewhere maybe? Is she definitely not adopting the typical laminitis stance, rocked back on her heels? Does she seem reluctant to move equally in every direction, ie can you pin it down to a single foot or does she seem sore on all of them? Could she have had a hooley round in the field and had a nasty fall? Worrying isn't it when you can't quite put your finger on it. Is she running a temperature? Throbbing pulse in any of her feet? Watch her quietly in the stable to see if she moves cautiously when on her own. Do you have a pair of hoof testers? Might be worth a squeeze on each foot. Has she been recently shod? I'd rule everything out and watch her carefully for eg a week. If she deteriorates or doesn't improve, vet and/or farrier (if it's defo feet).

Like BoF my thoughts were sounds like a laminitic stance - rocking back on heels - pottery steps. She may be sore on all 4 feet. I think I would be taking her off the grass if this was mine and getting her checked. It is, after all, that time of year again.
