Apologies if this turns into a ramble post, but I just wanted to share.

Have you ever had one of those weekends, where you wake up on Monday morning feeling like it was all a dream? Even this morning it doesn't feel real!

So a bit of background; I had a nasty fall half my life time ago, with it took all my jumping confidence. fast forward ten years and I wanted to jump but everytime I put up a fence then got on the horse it had multiplied. straight bars made me feel sick. Fast forward to 3 years ago, and I took on my current lad, he gave me the confidence, by needing me to ride into the fences rather than just sitting there, think he'd been over faced. His lack of confidence and my major lack of confidence pushed us towards dressage which we both love, however.....

A few weeks ago I decided to put myself forward for the Area 5 BRC team jumping competition, decided after our accident last year, you really do only get one life, so may as well live it! Having never done a competitive jumping competition, our goal was purely to have fun! And wow what fun we did:

First round was outside at Moreton Morrell College, jumps were nice, course a little twisty, but we did it..... we got clear!! Wahoo!!

Second round was inside, we've been there BD before, I wish I had seen his face as we walked in the school, because I felt his shock when he walked through the door to no white boards, these fences were bigger more towards the 85cm, some tight turns, but my attitude again wasn't with the competition, it was to have fun! And again.... wow what fun we had..... we did it..... 2nd clear!!!

2 of our team had gone double clear!! And 3rd score just 4 faults..... we did it!! Out of 15 teams we had won!!! No jump off required!! Gob smacked!!

But it didn't stop there..... I hadn't realised I was also counted as an individual and with only 7 riders out of all 57 entries going double clear we had a jump off on our hands!! Never in my wildest dreams had I thought this would happen!!

Again my attitude was to have fun, it wasn't about placings for us, jump off fences were now 90cm!! I've never, I mean never have I jumped that big..... the crowd were cheering us on when I was trotting between fences to get my turns, but we only blooming did it.... clear!!! Steady but clear to come individual 5th out of 57 riders!!

The dressage diva can fly!! I'm still buzzing!!

I know I need to sort my positioning out, but wow we had serious fun!

Will add pictures later - I promise

What a fabulous outing you had! He looks to be making easy work of that fence so you will be flying full time soon :)
Well done for getting out and doing it! :) I do miss jumping!

Fantastic results and lovely report! Massive well done, what an achievement to overcome your confidence issues in such a big way :)

Ok you must tell where you got your brave pants from. Seriously well done!

Banging my head on a garden wall last September I think. Our hacking out hacking showed me you only live once so enjoy it! Plus I trust my horse so much he's given me the confidence over fences too. I know he'll look after me :)

Had a gridwork lesson today and not once did I have that panic feeling

Little steps FF and you will get there - but I do not recommend breaking a garden wall with your head ;)
