Great stuff that they're DIY. I thought I'd ask as my OH was an electrician until a few years ago so I might try to see if I can get him to do me some too.... maybe I should prioritise actual electric lighting in the stables first though... one step at a time eh?? :D
 
Lovely - we have similar ones at the yard. There's often a group of us with coffee in hand under them on cold mornings!!
 
yes just an abbreviation for piaffe and passage :) (i never actually say that when speaking though, think thats a bit yuk..."oh ja, he's started his pee-pah etc etc"!!!!!!! im just too lazy to write it in full!!!

must say i lurve out solarium too. horses seem to enjoy it too although they werent sure why there was a pocket of heat over them at first
YO sometimes uses it to heat up her saddle in winter before getting on LOL
 
LOL at the solarium used to warm the saddle up!!

I would be totally lost without a solarium, I use it virtually every day in winter. The one at our yard can also blow hot air (a bit like a hairdryer!) which dries the horses' coats in no time at all.
 
I like very much!

Don't know where we'd put any though at ours, but it would make me feel less guilty for bathing the hippo - even though I only ever do tails, and hot cloth in winter.

Still, only got electric a few years ago, so might be a while yet! :)
 
however i dread to see how much electric they use - i run a pub and we had these heaters under our big umbrellas - costs £50 an hour to run - yes there were 9 lights but wow £50 an hour so we took them down now poor smokers have no heat when hiding under them in winter !!! lol
 
Wow - so much luxury! Maybe it's due to dressage breeding/movement, needing all these luxuries? That said, my dressage pony doesn't tread on herself when slipping down the hill in the field, or when throwing mega tantrums in the school, so dunno...?
 
They are very very useful to keep the horse warm in winter while tacking up etc, they can be used to warm the muscles up before work and down after work (we have a mare at the yard who benefits immensely from spending 20 mins in there before she is ridden), and obviously they are essential if you want to give the horses a bath in winter! Or even if a horse is very sweaty after training.....it's like drying off in the sunshine on a hot summer day!

hehe i laughed too, but i think i will be doing the same once it gets colder....lol
