Canterbury Horse Rescue is a well known horse charity near me in Kent that have always offered every single horse that comes to their door a home. They then rehabilitate and rehome much like any other.
However, I've just recieved this email :
"SERVING THE SOUTH EAST
WE LOVE, WE CARE, WE HELP
A VERY URGENT APPEAL
Canterbury Horse Rescue needs your urgent help; it has to raise £250,000 in six short weeks.
Like us all Canterbury Horse Rescue has been, and still is, suffering greatly from the severe economic downturn that everyone has been effected by. It has seen a dramatic fall in revenue over the last few years with a greatly increased demand in the service it provides. This combined with ever increasing costs for the leasing and renting of the Canterbury Horse Rescues operating Centre at Boundgate Farm, Faversham, Kent is forcing the charity to find new premises from which to operate. Failure to do so may result in the closure of the Centre and a very uncertain and bleak future for the many equine residents that call it their home.
Recent negotiations between the Charitys Trustees and the landlords of Boundgate Farm have failed to reach agreement on the charges more suitable to reflect the current economic climate - the Charity will also lose half the available grazing which is reverting back to the landlords from the beginning of March.
Canterbury Horse Rescue, therefore, has to find new premises from which to operate - not an easy task, as time is of the essence. Failure to do so may result in the Charity having to close, but all is not lost for the charity has been thrown a possible life- line that will secure its future.
Canterbury Horse Rescue has been offered by a supporter a chance to purchase at a greatly reduced price of £250,000 a 24 stable yard, barns, outbuildings and grazing ideal for its purpose. This offer is only available until the end of January 2010 when it will then be placed on the open market at the full market price.
WE THE TRUSTEES OF CANTERBURY HORSE RESCUE NEED YOUR HELP URGENTLY.
We require in order to successfully raise this sum of money to find 250,000 people willing to donate just £1 each (even more would be nice) this equates to the price of just one stamped Christmas card. We appreciate these are difficult times for many but for the many animals we care for this is a matter of life or death.
How can I help? By donating just £1, by passing on this appeal to as many people you can, by visiting our website, by caring enough to help. If enough people care we can succeed we know it is a difficult task but we believe it can be done it must be for the animals sake, for their future."
If you could find the time to donate , I'm sure it really would help
They've had ongoing problems with the land in question and it would be fantastic if they could move to a nearby location as opposed to having to sell up .
Thanks.
