not sure what to do

last night my mum fell and has broken her ankle. she is now in plaster and on crutches and is struggling. Found her on the kitchen floor this morning

do you tink an employer will think it reasonable for me to be here to support her for a couple of days whilst she gets going on them? not sure how te law works to be honest. just worried about leaving her on her own today!!

I'm not sure but ankle injuries do take a long time to heal. It is a very complex joint. I hope she makes a good recovery.

if you explain the situation i cant see them having an issue. I know my company wouldnt ( I work for the DWP), but we have good policies around special leave for domestic emergencies or carer responsibilities. all you can do is ask. if they say yes, great. if they say no then unfortunately its a no.

hope youre mum recovers quickly.

Just take annual leave to look after your mum.

Or if you don't want to use up your holiday ask to take a couple of days unpaid.
