I'm about to start my second year of Uni. Last year I kept my horse at home (we have our own pony stud) However due to constant arguments with my mom and because this my horse not getting to compete or even jump ( You cant get off to fix fences as once you get off he wont let you back on) So im thinking of moving Marble to near my College but I have never been on livery so what is included in Full livery and Is the horse food and hay included? How long on average would he get turned out?

Full Livery can vary from yard to yard.

Where I am what is included is;

All hard feed & haylage
Turnout for 7+hrs a day
Horse given a quick groom & feet picked out when she comes back in from field
Access to all facilities at the yard
Farrier, vet etc organised
1 Exercising session per week
Rug changes
Discounted group & private lessons

Full livery should be just that, it should include basic feed requirements, not usually supplements or anything too specialised, I allow for ad lib hay or haylage and turnout as much as possible, mine go out at night in summer and most of the day in winter, they should be brought in for routine farrier or vet visits, have rugs changed, a general check over with feet done and a quick groom, some yards may do a more thorough groom and include tack cleaning. The owner should not have to do anything on a daily basis other than exercise.

Ok that sounds good I just want him out as much as possible. I just what to check before I as the owner and sound thick .. But will it be possible to on the weekends doing everything myself muck out groom put out ect? Id feel useless after looking after marble full time for 4 years to have other people doing it all the time. Or would they not want someone messing with there routine

Some yards will do 5 or 7 day full livery, best thing is to ring some local ones and see what sort of package they offer.

It will depend on the yard, I had one livery that did weekends, as long as they are all fed at the same time it should not mess up a routine, most owners will ride at the weekends so the horses stay in until after riding, a small yard may appreciate a bit of help at the weekend, it is something to discuss when you go and see the yard.
