Hi
Has anyone loaned a horse from a rescue centre? I filled an application in two months ago and havnt heard a thing, yet seen loads of suitable horses on internet site. They said they will call as soon as one comes available.....but how long does it take? i desparately want to get our 2nd horse settled before winter and the dark nights (eek, theres a thought)..
Pimms and lemonade for anyone who stops me hanging on my postbox daily!!xx

I think you need to be a bit more proactive. Go to the centres and chat to the staff and look what is available. We looked at loaning a pony and we were told could have it within a month. Unfortuanately seeing our need was for a companion immediately as our other horse was on his own we couldn't wait that long but if you don't go and look I think they'll think you're not really interested. Get on the phone, or down to the centre and I think you'll have more luck

From first ringing to getting Puz home, took about 2 months. And thats because we had to wait for my OH to pass his trailer test to get her home!!!!

Ring, push, apply for every single one online xxx

have on loan two ponies from local rescue centre, remember they are really busy at the moment, as things have not really got any better from the winter months, so if you can, go and see them, maybe ring first to make sure it is alright. Then they can see you and you can see any possible loan horses they have that might suit.....I went and saw the owner of our rescue centre and it went on from there.

I used to work at a rescue center and it was defo a case of the horses were put on the website and you rang to see if you wanted to view it. The center just didnt have the time to go calling everyone. After you called and sorted out a viewing a home check would happen within a week then a second vist to view the horse and if still ok, a third. After that the horse would be able to be picked up, and a home check would happen a week after the horse was home and then after 6 weeks.
So get pro-active and im sure you will get something soon x

hi - i have sent a few emails but they (blue cross) have made it clear its a 'dont call us we'll call you' scenario. If I thought it would work I would camp outside!! The process is they allocate you a suitable horse, then you go visit and ride, then they visit you and then thats it.....might try and advertise for a loan as only have 1k in the bank and thats not enough to buy a happy hacker....the wait goes on......x
