I went to buy a rug for my 2 year old gelding this weekend. I wanted something cheap as the chances are it will be ripped before the end of the winter and definitely outgrown before next winter. So I asked for a 'cheap rug'. I got shown one, but was told it was cheap because it was in last years colours!!!!!! Do you think my ponio will mind? LOL!!!!! Or am I just an embaressing mum who dresses him in not trendy stuff????

I feel the same. I bought 2 Rhinegold Aspen rugs on ebay. They were £40 and £48 each and brand new, because they were last year's colours. They retailed at over £100. Like you- I ask- does the horse care? I bought them because they had the highest specs of any I could find.

Within an hour of been in the field in it, your boy will have turned it into this years colour - MUD.......... Makes me laugh, not really into this colour thing, so if the rug does what it should then I buy it, even if it is last years colour......

excatly my statement to the tack shop they looked at me blank! I just said to them... do horses care what colour they are as long they are in one shade of colour.... MUD!!!!

Hmmm, know what you mean..I am actively looking for caramel/mustard coloured numnahs for one of mine..he has a beautiful tan coloured bridle, but I am struggling to afford a tan saddle to go with it, so thought I would pick out the colour in the saddle cloth..but it isn't this year's colour

No i won't dye the bridle, he is chestnut and looks fabulous in it!

hehe know what you meant too. i really wanted the horseworks full neck TO rug and it was £70 becasue it was last yeards model, they had exactly the same rug in purple (this years apparently) that was £90 and TBH i prefered the blue!
