Not today so much but there have been a few hot spells this summer and i tend to think i cant be bothered to do much, certainly wouldnt want to go running for example so i dont ride my horses either.
When i was younger we'd take our ponies miles every day in the summer holidays and it didnt seem to bother them- obviously competition horses etc have to be exercised what ever the weather but for the normal riding horse, is it fair when its really warm? (i may well just be a bit soft!)

I usually ride before work during the week so it's not usually too hot at 6am although on the warmest days sometimes even I can cope in just a t-shirt at that time (obviously yes jodhs boots hat etc too). On weekends I try to ride before 8am if it's going to be a scorcher, generally I wake up early if it's really hot anyway so it's feasible to get 3 ridden before 8/9am. I do get worried about the show horses being out all day in the heat though so generally on a really hot day I'd try and only take one and leave as soon as the relevant class(es) was(were) over, but as you say there haven't been too many hot days to worry about this year!

I love to hack when its hot, but can't stand dressage or jumping lessons as just boil!! Then give horse a nice shower when we get back and he seems happy:)

Nope, the ginger horse and I both hate the heat! He's not in work at the moment anyway but I still go up to the yard really early morning and then again at 6/7ish to feed/flyspray etc.

Luckily not too much of a problem, especially here in Scotland!

cant say its particularily hot enough to ever worry in the uk :/

No i guess not!
I was taken into hospital ill last October which involved a VERY high temp for the first and only time in my life!-hallucinations, dehydration etc horrible
Since this i have gone from sun worshipper to cant cope in heat (today has been too hot for me!)

I too used to love hacks in the summer- we always did pub rides, just couldnt even consider it now!

I also have a daughter so cant really ride early- I drop her at school then work til 1pm which gives me 1-3pm to ride or evening if it can be fitted in. Otherwise i'd gladly get up and go early!

No but it's not the heat, it's the gazillions of flies that it brings out. Horseflies the size of small sparrows chasing us along the track, nightmare!!
