C'mom guys, get guessing, how much do you think this horse is worth?












He is over 100 years old










He is about 11hh









He isn't in tip top condition












He had a mane and tail transplant last year as he lost his own due to vandalism









Comes with tack and a summer sheet, but thats not in great condition either









He isn't shod and he isn't very fit as he is a bit stiff now







His colour has faded





And he goes by the name of Rick-Rock, unknown breeding.

Not going to sell him if I can help it, but man coming out next week to value that picture I was on about last week and thought I'd get him to look at R-R just for future reference sake.
Closest person to right value will win a chocolate bar of their choice!!

ps - sorry about messy background, the stables are clean, house is always second best!!

Do you know how old he is as I've seen some selling for £2,500 online if restored & unrestored ones going for anything from £500 to £1000 ish.

My late great uncle had him in 1910 and he was brought second hand. We think he was 'born' 1900 but have no definate proof.

I bought a Hadden Rocker in 1973, and just paid £1100 for it restoring, mind it looks beautiful, so I rekon yours must be £2.5k as hes much older, are you going to get him restored?

No, he will stay as he is, I don't want to tamper with him and spoil his character. (Someone also told me NOT to restore them as they then become more valuable.)
My children like him and ride him, but he would have a weight limit, although iam tempted to sit on!!

I also think £2.5k is about right if he's restored. There's a rocking horse maker has a trade stall at Bleinhem and Windsor, and they're prices are around £1500 to £3000 for new ones, so I would have thought your lovely antique one would be worth more than a new one if restored.

They also go to all the RHS shows as well - They are Stevensons rocking horses. They do look impressive and cost way way more than my real rocking horse.

We have a 'more youthful' chap, from the Stevensons Brothers! Verry similar shape to your chap. I'd reckon on little change from £3K - but I'm rubbish at guessing so could be way out!

I have a pair of Stevensons rocking horses. The first (traditional style in oak) I bought whilst at HOYS the year before it moved to Birmingham...Didn't dare tell OH till I got home that I had spent £4k...

The second is a 1st edition of TED the clysdale, RBST mascot that I won in a raffle at The Great Yorkshire Show! They offered me a lot of money not to take him!!

Both are big eneough to be ridden by an adult (or 2...)
First pictures are at my old home where they had a lovely room just for them......last pic is our new home before we start doing any work!

Haven't got a clue what they are worth but like you I won't be selling!

The little one (tiny in the first picture in the left hand corner of the room) is from WW1.

There was one on Dickensons real deal last week. They said that becausw the owner had restored it it had lost value.

We had one which we got restored by Stevenson brothers.

Repaired might actually be a better way of putting it, no mane tail, the bridle had rotted away and the saddle was dropping to bits. This was the rocking horse my brother and I rode as kids, it got demoted to the shed when my parents moved house and needed to be got fit for my daughters and their friends to play with. Now minus one stirrup leather after no 2 daughter was "riding the grand national" with short jockey stirrups and it snapped!

I would have to dig out the paperwork, our one was made in Liverpool, it was valued about 8 years ago at £2,000, so I think you could say there is restoration and "restoration". It still looks old, rather than tarted up.
