Anyone else tried to take the cheap option and wished they hadn't?

God what a trip to the vets today.

Went to get my horse passported and the vet won't come out to me as he hasn't got the time (not an equine vet)

So given I have to pass the vets on my usual hack route I said fine I would hack my horse to his place (my horse does not box)

well bloody horse would not stand still! I stayed on her back but even thought I said she has no markings or whorls under saddle vet insisted I get off and take the saddle off ( fair enough I guess he got a job to do)

His bloody assistant sat on her fat arse doing paperwork while I am trying to hold my saddle and sheepskin numnah on one arm and trying to stop my spooking horse (the council decided to cut the grass verge right next to her) from running off with the other while the all the vet was saying was " I can't find any markings on her"

Then he casually suggests he give her, her booster jabs.....oh great idea NOT I have a horse on her toes and spooked and now he wants to jab her with a needle by the side of a main rd ....I ask myself is he is trying to kill me!!!

Finally able to throw her saddle on again but as I scramble aboard can't manage to get her to stand still long enough to do my girth up as she is trotting sideways into a busy main rd (lawn mower still going full rev) and said assisitant is still sitting on her arse!!

so now she is well on her toes and I decide bugger it ride back with loose saddle and cross fingers.

Maybe next time I should pay for the call out!!! you think??

How was everyone elses horsey day?

I think you made your own life a bit difficult there really its not there responsibility to hold your horse down lol, but hell we all do it!

If I take my dog in to the vet and I had a problem the assistant is there to lend a hand.

why not my horse?

Why could you not put it gently on to the ground?
I'd recommend you find an equine vet, as small animal vets and assistants just don't know how to deal with horses.

better luck next time you need a vet!!
