Lordie and I have had a few issues about hacking out on our own resulting in him usually spinning and backing up to get back to the yard, in company he is fine just not on his own.
Well yesterday after a 20 min schooling session I decided to see if I could get him out of the yard on a hack up the road.
I was slightly anxious but off we went, we got as far as the 2nd car outside and back we went into the yard bottoms first
So after a bit of vocal encouragement we trotted off the yard and up the road we went, pulled him up a few feet away and he walked VERY nicely down the road (for the first time on our own
) stopped outside the yard up the road from us and turned for home.
Today I thought I'd give it another bash and we left the yard FIRST TIME no backing up or hesitation and hacked to the
same place as before
he passed a scary van (engine running) without any encouragement and we got overtaken by a large 4x4, So pleased as he was nice and forward going today
I know it's not a lot but I'm so pleased as before he simply wouldn't hack on his own so I feel we are now starting to bond a bit more and Lord is starting to trust me
