Can anyone recommend somewhere in south Nottingham or melton/ loughborough way for riding lessons.

I have just looked at elms farm and it seems they have stopped lessons. I won't touch west bridgford incase any one suggests there.

I am fairly competent and jumping lessons would be good. Normally ride several friends horses but missing regular riding and think a few lessons might be a good way forward ideally not on just ploddy riding school horses.

Suggestions would be grateful or if anyone knows of a horse that needs exercising a couple of times a week let me know. Thanks :D

I can recommend Vale View Equestrian, in Old Dalby, Melton Mowbray. I had lessons on their Schoolmaster Dressage horses.
The facilities are very impressive, as are the instructors. It's not cheap but their horses are definitely not your usual riding school type, I really enjoyed it.

Bunny Hill?

Used to be great before Bob passed away, not sure what it is like now.
He had some very talented horses there.

I used to ride at Lings Lane in Keyworth and loved it. The horses were treated really well and there used to be a great variety of types, from typical riding school to rather more exciting. I never had lessons, only hacked but the lessons I saw always looked really fun. I would definitely recommend :D

Lings lane is still open and doing a lovely job ... My daughters pony has gone there for semi retirement and is being loved by everyone who rides him. He has various health issues.... He's an oldie !!! And they are looking after him brilliantly !

Sorry quirky wasn't being ignorant I just thought bunny hill was more children's type place but happy to consider it if not. Not sure weather to just go on Sunday for a look around

Bunny used to do adult only lessons.
They used to have a good range of talented horses, not just ponies.
I used to have a school master lesson there, so I knew what to ask for with my youngster. I had no transport, so no chance to have lesson on my own horse.

What about Calverton? Are they still going?

If you're thinking of St Clements Lodge they have recently announced their closure. There is Dovecote Equestrian centre at Orston which is south notts, I used to have lessons there but they could be a bit haphazard. Sometimes they were great with plenty of jumping but sometimes they wouldn't have the horses ready and the abilities were sometimes ill-matched.

Quirky thank you, I might nip up on Sunday.

Slyv that's what I find the amount of times they have been moved, cancelled etc that it's not worth the effort sometimes or even turn up and find you have been double booked and can you come back another day!
