I'm just doing my entries for an unaff dressage comp, and I'm not sure whether to enter Nov 21 or 24? I read through 24 last night, but for the life of me I can't remember what there is in 21, and my sheets are at home. Could anyone tell me the constiuent parts of 21?

Ta muchley!!

But as a judge I see people ride 21 quite badly on the whole.

The tricky movement being the 1/2 15m circle (canter) back to track. People come off to begin the half circles too early (close to E or B) and so the angle back to the track is so steep. You should do the half circle so that the top of it touches the short side (in front of the judge) which makes the angle back shallower and allows you to ride a few strides of counter canter before you trot at F or K.

I like novice 21 over novice 24

Im not keen on the 2-4 walk steps in Novice 24, we always fall in a heap, or jog

Im doing both on the 9th

Good luck

I always ride the half 15 circles badly, and fall in heap on the track, I practice in my lessons and get it perfect, then it comes to the tests and I fluff it up

I did watch some people doing it and I thought I had learnt the wrong test, as they seemed to ride the circle so big they looked like they were changing the rein accross the diagonal

I was told as long as your half circle goes over the centre line it should be big enough, if you make it to big, thats when it falls in a heap

I know the theory its just doing it, I have to do it at my dressage on sunday, I so hope I get it right this time

You should ride it so the widest part of your half circle hits the 3/4 line, that way it will be the correct size.

If the widest point goes to the centre line it will be half 10m circle
