Sorry another dressage question. I expect you can guess I've got a comp coming up. I'm really confused by

- Working Canter.........between E & H Half circle right 15 metres diameter returning to the track between E and K

Does that mean I go out to about 2.5 metres from X, and does it have to be an exact half circle or does it get a bit tear drop shaped. What are the measurements between e and H. Would you start exactly half way?

I would be very grateful if someone could explain if you can understand what I'm going on about!

So if it's a half circle with a diameter of 15m does that mean it has a radius of 7.5 metres coming out from E, or is the imaginary centre of the circle somewhere else? Sorry totally confusing myself.

You need to give yourself as much space to perform this movement as this makes the balance easier. So i go nearly to E and then ride my half 15m circle returning to the track almost at K. This makes the shape as large as possible and therefore aids flow, rhythmn and therefore balance.
i always draw out these movements on a piece of paper so that i get the feel of the 'shape ' of the movement.

I am sure partoow means that she goes nearly to H and then rides the half 15m circle returning to the track almost at K. This gives you more space to balance you horse. Good luck!

Thanks, think I've cracked it now. Got an instructor to draw it for me this morning. I had imagined the circle sideways on which explains why I was confused! What I was doing needed a showjumping turn to work! One surprised pony.

Thanks equibeau!! thats exactly what i meant, it was late and my brain was addled!!!!! some thing to do with having ridden 9 tests the previous weekend..... i think arse and elbow sighn posted and i would have missed it !!!!!
