Hi all, I am doing a show tomorrow and entering the novice and large working hunter classes, I have done this before but years ago, can anyone tell me if I should wear a stock or a shirt and tie?

Any other hints and tips would be greatly received!

Cheers

In the show ring a stock should only be worn with a navy jacket for an evening performance. The rest of the time will be shirt and tie. For a hunter class you should wear a shirt and tie, tweed jacket, brown gloves, long boots, spurs, cream/beige jods, navy hat with flesh coloured harness.

Thanks this is really useful info...

Just one other question, I have been getting my horse used to a pelham and double reins can I wear this in the novice and large working hunter classes?

With working hunters I have watched far to many horses jump badly in a double or pelham as it is very different to just doing a ridden show. As you are free to use any pretty much anything I would go with what your horse goes best in after all the jumping makes up 60% of the marks.
