hey! the novice at brechin is lovely, rather moderate course, hilly but nothing compared to kirrimuir. scone is also lovely but step up from brechin so quite good as a continuation from brechin but beware of brechin's renowned hard ground!!! you def going to both? i shall be at both! see you there!
Have to say not a huge fan of Brechin, haven't been since 2002 though. The first half it very twisty and many people find it had to get going although the course itself is nice and not too difficult. I love scone its one of my favourite events. I think the novice is fair and is nice for an early run.
Agree that Brechin is very twisty at the beginning and as a result I haven't been for a few years as I like my horse to get into a good rhythm at the start of the course. They may have changed it however.
Scone is a lovely novice but I would say on the upper level of difficulty. Last year the ditch to log over the ditch caused no ends of problems. However it is a really good galloping track with lots of variation and almost guaranteed good going. They also changed the layout last year which made a huge difference for helpers as they didn't have to walk miles to get everywhere!
They sound good. Ill watch out for Brechins ground. Im not too worried about a twisty start as my boys pretty easy-ozy about that sort of thing and actually prefer it as he's quite a small horse so is nipper round twisty bits than flat out gallops. I just want to do it as its one of my closer to home events.
Will have to see if I can get my entry in for Scone, was booked up totally last year when I tried to enter! I have heard its rather up to height......
Somebody on here was extremely kind last year and emailed me pics of I think Brechin and somewhere else, but of the PN. I think they got the screen shots of eventriders.com (Im not a member)? Any chance anybody could do that again..... Would love to see the novice track at Scone especially!

God I'll never live that down
MM - D did his very best slaming on of brakes I went stright over his head landed square on the top if mine, but managed to land on the 1 foot of dry land between the log & the water
Any way I'm looking for info on the PN course at Brechin, does the same apply as for the Novice, twisty etc?
