So I noticed this on my boy's tongue today (sorry about the awful pictures, needless to say they were not easy to take!). Does anyone know what it could be? I'm assuming it's a vet visit but how urgent? Not that I'm planning to leave it ages, the vet is at the yard anyway at the end of next week but I can get him sooner if needed.13206.jpg13207.jpg

Do you mean the lesions at the sides where he appears to be catching /abrading with his teeth? Vet / equine dentist to see if things can’t be improved. ETA, not an emergency, unless suddenly deteriorates/ bites his tongue off(!), next week should be fine. Looks like it’s been going on for a while, good luck!

Looks like he's bitten his tongue/got an ulcer. That canine looks sharp and may have caused it. When were his teeth last done? Probably needs doing again soon.

I would be inclined to send these photos to your vet - they may want to come out and take a physical look-see.

When was the last time the horse's teeth were checked? This might be indicative of a sharp edge somewhere, and your horse might need some attention to his teeth. Also the bit might be causing a problem.

Whatever, I would not ride this horse until the vet has seen this.

Well done for spotting it.
