Really pleased with our Lux Z girl today as she jumped round her first up to height Foxhunter for one down which was not her fault, having come around off the wall and ending up buried in the base of a square oxer. Most horses would have stopped but she kept going as she's so straight.

She showed the same scope over 1.20 as she has over smaller tracks and so we're chuffed to bits with her. Pics below :) :)

Thanks :)

Sarasum1 - she's 15.3hh so not the largest but what she lacks in size she makes up for in attitude!

StupidWaldo - we'll give her a while to establish at Fox (ie a few shows anyway) and see how she opes with a 1.25. If she can jump well around those and 1.30's I'd be tempted to keep her but son really is a bit tall as he is 6ft and she should really go to someone smaller, possibly a young person coming off ponies or someone who likes an exuberant, athletic little horse. The more I like her the more I think we should keep her but I just wish we could put her feet into compost and make her grow...or shrink son!

JenniferB - we thought all of the tracks were big all day. It was the biggest Fox I've seen and probably closer to 1.25, so all credit to the mare. She's just so straight and brave that she'll take anything on from anywhere and yet also careful. She's having a lovely day in the field in the sun (and wind) today!

Nothing like getting thrown in at the deep end - who was building? I know my eye's a bit out but jeez it looks a strong track! It had better not be a new trend, going to the Wildcard show on Thursday am to jump the Disco - whoever's building had better not forget it's only day 1 of the show and it is a novice class... I'm expecting flowers, water features, the works this weekend lol!

Robert Canney was building and he's not famed for his huge courses... He's also had really tight times in his classes recently and the 1.30 was enormous, way bigger than the Blair GP.

I can't get off work for Thurs or Fri and so might jump one of the other days but there are no Foxs for Saffy and I'd like to give Jack a weekend off as he's had a show for the last 4 weekends. We might pop down to watch a horse jumping though but again it would be the weekend.

Good luck and let us know how it goes. Are you outside on Thurs? If so we found at the last big summer show with the HOYS Amateur class that all of the fillers etc were in the "big ring" - outdoors in that case - and so the novice ring was lots of uprights and nothing to look at. So, it might be an easier outing than a normal show!

I actually love Robert's tracks, they're usually really nice to ride. I think he's been building larger and more technical in the past few years, we're really lucky with some of the coursebuilders we've got up here just now!

At the weekend proper the novices get punted outside, but Thursday is the 'warm-up' day so Bonzo can get up close and personal with the bunting and paddling pool etc - hope Nadine's not got the fountain up and running...
