I have been having a few 'issues' with Axey lately. He refuses to take a contact at all and puts his head in the air and won't go forward. This has got worse and worse until he was threatening to rear and doing this funny cantering on the spot thing!
I put a Market Harborough on him and that stopped and he started really leaning on me instead, and keeps yanking his head down really hard often pulling me out of the saddle
I rode him in a waterford snaffle and had a lesson and after arguing for 10 mins I had the most wonderful ride
The next day my Instructor rode him and he basically started rearing as soon as she got on, but eventually went really nicely. However, the next day I noticed he had cut his mouth, so only hacked out gently on a loose rein for a few days.
The vet came out yesterday to give his vaccinations and look at his teeth.
Guess what................
Wolf teeth!
So she took them out there and then.
I'm giving Axey a week off to recover and hopefully (fingers crossed) he will be a lot more comfortable in his mouth now! And a lot nicer to ride
