I have been having a few 'issues' with Axey lately. He refuses to take a contact at all and puts his head in the air and won't go forward. This has got worse and worse until he was threatening to rear and doing this funny cantering on the spot thing!
I put a Market Harborough on him and that stopped and he started really leaning on me instead, and keeps yanking his head down really hard often pulling me out of the saddle

I rode him in a waterford snaffle and had a lesson and after arguing for 10 mins I had the most wonderful ride

The next day my Instructor rode him and he basically started rearing as soon as she got on, but eventually went really nicely. However, the next day I noticed he had cut his mouth, so only hacked out gently on a loose rein for a few days.
The vet came out yesterday to give his vaccinations and look at his teeth.
Guess what................

Wolf teeth!
So she took them out there and then.
I'm giving Axey a week off to recover and hopefully (fingers crossed) he will be a lot more comfortable in his mouth now! And a lot nicer to ride

Unfortunately these things happen, We are only human and we dont know everything .. wouldnt it be so much easier if we could read horses minds ? ... Not to worry and like previous poster said ,you got the vet out to check and all is well now ( hopefully

) ....no need to feel guilty

The worst thing is that I've had 2 back people out recently and he has had a sore back, so I was convinced it was that, and didn't give a thought about his teeth

Poor thing, his mouth was really bleeding and the water in his bucket was all red this morning

Hi hon, don't worry same thing happened with Murphy. Did they sedate him to take teeth out. Alee has just had her first dentist appointment and has got to have her wolf teeth out at the next one!

Yes he was sedated, he had to have 2 lots as the first lot was wearing off by the time she got round to doing the second tooth.

They were a lot easier to come out than I expected, Bryn had his out and it took ages

Loads of blood though, we were covered in it.
