Not much for the random posts but I spent Saturday dodging liveries and waxing nostalgic for having my own place, segueing into planning my fantasy, lottery winning-funded yard, imagining being captain of my own ship, and indulging my every OCD wish. This after a few weeks of envying Baydale her non-freezing school, off road hacking, lovely stable of non-lethal horses, and qualified jump crew on tap.

Today I remembered the catch . . . after getting a text from said non-freezing school and well known bay horse owner, who is halfway up a mountain (I want to be warm and dry on holiday but whatever floats one's boat) in a foreign land, only to hear that on her first day away one of her trusty staff has seriously injured herself riding someone else's horse (arguably while she was supposed to be caring for Baydale's, but that's beside the point). All due sympathy and of course wishes for a speedy recovery but short term, a massive source of stress (not least to the remaining staff), and long term a logistical difficulty, looking for someone new going into the season.

This on top of a few sad minutes with the person I'm riding for, staring out over her paddocks/floodplain, which was almost dry enough to use again . . . until the biblical flood last night. And then commiserating with the yard owner on his day of endless mucking of the shut in, annoyed horses ungrateful despite being saved from having to stand out in the sleet.

Was quite happy to drive back to my nice warm house (albeit a bit damp and cold) and leave it all to other people.

Sorry, just having a smug moment at my life choices. And how was everyone else's soggy day?

Btw, if anyone wants to go work for Baydale she's offering free lessons on top of all the usual benefits. PM me and I'll pass along any offers.

If my job satisfaction remains at oooh, zilch, then come August I will have a think about going back to playing ponies - have a feeling Baydale will be well-staffed by then though!

Well, I DO like a good ramble but you have to admit I don't usually start 'em. I usually make the last post then everyone nods off/gives up/dies of boredom/annoyance and the thread dies.:)

No, not at the gin yet, but now you mention it . . .

Just feeling pretty cheerful I don't have to trek back out and skip stalls.

I could take a couple of weeks off work..... *dreams of being left in charge of the big bay boys and maybe even paid for the priviledge*

I know what its like to be hurting and not being able to do much! Poor groom bet she feels terrible, why do these things always happen at the wrong time! Bet its spoilt baydales holiday too

I may know of someone too - let me know where based - I know it's relatively local to us and I'll text her - working in hunting/dealing/PtoP yards and hard working
