Now I've seen bad spelling on adverts but.....

I saw that this morning too! Was shocked. Pony looks quite cute though. Horrendous spelling might put me of or if an ad has obviously been written by a child.

If I spelt that badly I would certainly ask someone to help me write the advert. Yes it would put me off calling as it looks like a joke advert to me. I do feel sorry for the person who wrote it though.

ETA: I did not notice the breed, that is certainly not a shetland. So not only cant they spell, they dont know what breed their horse is either. I would certainly not hand £500 over to someone that clueless.

I think it would put me off as you dont know if it ligit!! But again the seller may be Dyslexic.... so if the horse grabbed my attention enough I would ring up and speak to someone if I couldnt understand the Ad.

Oh dear. And it's not even a Shetland.

Perhaps the age of the advertiser is 11 - not the pony......

im sorry but possibly dyslexic or not if you pay for an advert and are trying to sell your horse/pony then please get someone to check it for you, surely !!!!

Oh dear, bless. You would say it would be a joke but then they'd have had to pay for it wouldn't they?! Bit of a waste of money if really trying to sell a pony. Although if they're that bad with spelling maybe their maths isn't good either - you could pick it up for £50! hee hee (sorry!)

Yeah- thats what I thought when I posted. Plus kids under 12 cant post an add unless they have stoen parents card surely?

Noticed the seller is based in rural scotland, it is possible that their first language is Scottish! I always find it interesting that these really badly put together adverts only seem to crop up on horsemart!

QR-
Possibly it's a cunning marketing ploy to get the advert discussed on forums, thereby increasing the number of people who will actually take a look!!!

The language's called Gaelic & very uncommon and tbh, I think that a rural Scotsman would be able to tell that wasn't a shetland...

Don't you be so sure!!!

I've been considering offering my services to Horse & Hound for free after yet another page full of spelling mistakes in this week's mag. I'd so happily correct them all before they went to print. No doubt the person who sets these adverts up, (see page 121, 3rd April) is not at all horsey. You don't really need a degree in English, even if the order is taken over the phone, to get 'LEAD RAIN', 'MOUNTAIN AND MAULLAND' and the dreaded 'CONFIRMATION' spelt correctly, do you??

OK, If the bale isnt tiny then thats one hell of an outsized shetland. It is also the leanest shetland I have ever clapped eyes on and would you really buy a pony who looks like it will walk through all your fencing at home???

I have thought for years that H&H needs to get a decent proof reader - sorry to whoever does it now. But, there are usually loads of mistakes made.
