Not yet with Tilly as grass seems to = growth spurt which results in a ribby, gangly beast without some sort of conditioning food. She will probably have 1 more bag of conditioning flakes this spring and then move onto a fibre mix but we shall see.
Mickey, being a laminitic risk, has had grazing and dinner reduced for about the last month and you'd never tell looking at him!
Now that hunting has finished, too, yes! She has gone on to Happy Hoof and economy cubes, and not many of those.
Small Fat Pony is wearing his muzzle all the time he is out but having two small feeds and hay now that he is 'working'.
I've cut out her speedi-beet, that stopped a few weeks ago. I have cut down the size a bit, she is not eating as much hay now though. The grass is coming through but its not right through yet, she still needs some extra
I only give mine 2 handfuls of chaff to put his supplement in anyway...so no! He has hardly any grass left so have fenced some off to recover, but that will do him good as he has to ferrit about for it, but has plenty of hay if he wants it.
Now we're in livery we rely on farmer to say where we go and when. New grasing and we're the first to go in it so are watching them very carefully (not that they've ever had laminitus touch wood). Our mares are sectioned into paddocks and stay away from the rest of the liveries (they're scared of Perd as she is sooo scary and has a bad temper - good, hehe!). Grass is good, stopped morning feed monday, just evening feed now, but will be putting Libs in foal so not really sure whether to cut it out entirely. Actually, I think I ask opinions about that. Sugar beet stopped when we ran out a couple of weeks ago! Had a couple of chowers come over today, so grass is growing well.
