They look amazing but i don't like the amount of 'show condition' many of them are carrying.

well to be honest i like them with a bit of beef on the bone, cant stand to see these weedy D's... saying that most of those stallions have alot of muscle anyway!!

can someone help me out here......... I`m just getting back to riding as an adult (having had a 15 yr break!) and I`m now trying to earn a bit more about the finer points of horses & riding.

Can anyone explain to me what is meant by show condition? i.e what construction/type is the horse demonstrating. I have been showing, working & judging huskies for some years now so I appreciate that the type of animal you often seen working can often be different to the animal type that is presented in the ring.

I`m just curious to understand where those differences lie in Welsh D's. I`m a big fan of them...but am not yet familiar with the subtleties of perceived types in the breed. Help

lizzib: this is from the welsh pony and cob society website, on Sec Ds:

"The general character is the embodiment of strength, hardiness and agility. the head shows great quality with Pony character: bold prominent eyes, a broad forehead and neat, well set ears. The body must be deep, on strong limbs with good "hard wearing" joints and an abundance of flat bone. Action must be straight, free and forceful, the knees should be bent and then the whole foreleg extended from the shoulders as far as possible in all paces, with the hocks well flexed, producing powerful leverage."

Great pics, I just love section D stallions, they are the best imo.
Notice you have Brenin Dafydd in your siggy, do you have any brenin dafydd bred cobs then? We had a son of his we bred from, cracking thing he was
