Now THIS takes the ultimate designer dog cake!

This has given us all a good laugh but can't something be done about this! The Kennel club might be too fluffy in their approach about breeding but these dogs don't have anyone representing them. Just found out there's a puppy farm half a mile from me and livid! They're calling themselves Affordable Designer Dogs

I'm sure this must have been talked about before, I want to go to the place and see what's going on there on some pretext - any ideas?
 
Aside from the obvious of posing as a potential buyer, I'm not sure that any place would allow you to come in for a nose. You could pretend to be writing an article I suppose. But I am not sure there is much that can be done. There's been all sorts of suggestions of breeders requiring a license. But how to enforce that? Do you require that anyone with a pet dog be spayed/neutered or pay a fine? Where does that end? Legislation costs money and who will foot that bill?
 
It all seems pretty hopeless for these poor sorry little dogs, I only found out about this place because someone I know bought a pup to take it out of the situation. The answer is educating people into buying responsibly but how do you do that apart from signing all the online pettitions you can find. It would be pretty possible to get this puppy farm moved as the owner of the property wouldn't want people locally to know about this as it would affect his own business but no doubt the dog people would just set up somewhere else

Makes me sick, what kind of people buy these? I can't even begin to imagine what these will grow into. Bizarre!
 
Betsyboop, I used to rant and splutter and rage and get upset both here and in real life.

But you cannot legislate for idiots.

Time is better spent educating puppy buyers, promoting the people (rescues and breeders) who do things right and when you hit the shysters in the pocket, their main motivation, they soon get the idea and move onto their next scheme, hopefully not involving living breathing animals.

Errrm, sorry for getting everyone excited ove a false promise of cake! I'm on a diet, so maybe it was a freudian slip?! :rolleyes:

As for what kind of people - I'm holding my tongue on that one.

Sometimes people just believe what they want, and don't listen to common sense or reason.
