I have stuggled to find a bit to suit my mare who is fussy in the mouth and very backwards and doesnt take a contact. Well it was pay day so i decided i would go for it and try and NS as if it didnt work it would sell easily. The decision next was what to get! i looked at the verbinded and team up but they are loose ring, and she doesnt take a hold, she backs off the bit, ideally she needed an eggbutt! but at £65, 25 more than the loose rings i wasnt sure but i went for it and schooled her in it today and my oh my what a difference! she has a very crowded mouth and this is perfect for her! i am chuffed to bit and highly recomend one! they are expensive but soo worth it. i have been fiddling with bits for 6 months and just settled with a little eggbutt frenchlink which she was ok in but in this NS she is 10 times better!

i have just bought the loose ring verbidend too and i agree it is an excellent bit.
My gelding is much softer into the contact in it and doesnt lean on the right rein like he did in his old bit

i now looking forward to schooling my mare! she was always such hard work and still is but the fact she is now happier in her mouth is going to make a huge difference! now only if this bit would make her canter in a straight line ;-)

Im glad to hear they are good.
Ive been saving to get a sprenger for my boy ( has exactly the same prob as OP ), then someone recommended i try a NS bit.
They seem to be harder to get here, but even if i buy from the uk & pay postage, it will work out cheaper than the sprenger.
Kx

Agree, both ours are in them and they really are fantastic bits! More expensive than a regular bog standard loose ring or eggbutt, but wow - the difference is massive! I wish I had a box of the verbindent to send out to every poster on here that complains that their horse isn't happy in the mouth, opens the mouth and has a larger tongue - I want to make happy horses lol!!
(Our girls prefer them to the sprenger as the sprengers have a slightly different angle on the lozenge that results in more tongue pressure - something ours don't get on with at all hence the need for a shaped bit like the eggbutt and verbindent)

My horse really doesnt like them for some reason, when i read about them and got advice on here i bought a loose ring veribend (pr however you spell it) for him and he was horrible in it!! head in the air, very inconsitant contact and just fight fight fight the whole time.

But it turns out he doesnt like metal bits....who knew?? bloody animal.

Anyway if anyway is looking for a bit...i have one (used once) name your price :D
