Anyone tried either/ both of these - am trying to decide between them as need a dressage legal bit for my beast who can be a bit on the strong side.

he is tb x ID - so quite big tongue and not much room in his mouth. He doesn't object to a single joint and in past has got a bit over deep/ leans on a bit with a barrel in the centre.

I have a mare with no room in her mouth and a very active tongue. I firstly tried riding her in a loose ring KK but mine is rather thick and it made her very wooden. I then tried a fulmer french link (I didn't own a loose ring), but my dressage trainer wasn't happy with it so advised me to purchase the Demi Anky. Have been riding in it for 2 weeks and she has advised me to go back to the french link as the DA is not really suiting my mare.

So horses for courses really - I would have a try with both for at least a week and see how you get on.
 
My boy hates tongue pressure, so tried a Demi Anky and he refuse to go forwards at all. He quite likes his Tranz link though... what about the Verbinand as a medium between the 2....
 
Yes - I know what you mean - expect I will need to try both. He isn't very fussy, but was surprised at how much he leaned on a two jointed bit with a barrel. He came to me with a hanging cheek french link as his dressage bit - but really it doesn't do much for him.

My horse has the Verbinand and is so much happier in this. She was in a Myler and initially loved it but now she leans etc. I contacted shop4bits and got the above bit on trial and it was great
 
Hadn't though of that - might try that one first - thanks SK & samp.

Reason I hadn't thought of it was I was looking at full cheek bits (was hoping I could then use the bit keepers when I needed a bit more stopping power.)

Hmmm - I could ask for trial of both couldn't I?
 
Yes you could have both on trial. I was looking at getting a stronger bit to jump in as I had no control in the Myler. However since trying this bit I have had no braking issues
 
The verdiband has more of a curve to the mouth allowing room for a large tongue. Also doesn't put pressure on the tongue when you move the reins etc
 
A demi anky is quite square in the way it lies in the mouth. One of mine has a very small mouth with little room and I find the shape of the demi anky causes bruising on the roof of his mouth. Personally I would suggest you look at the NS Team Up bit, it lies in a more curved shape in the mouth.
 
Verbindend shaped like a large wide port to allow tongue space

My youngster loves this bit, stopped him sticking his tongue out and he goes really well in it.

However his full brother hates it

I think I need to add the V to my shopping list. We have a short mouth, huge tongue and tushes to contend with !
 
And is it dressage legal as it doesn't mention this on the website (the Verbindend that is) where as the others have dressage legal next to them.
 
I have been told it is dressage legal yes, as that was one of my requirements when trying out a new bit. I do not think the mouthpiece is very thick but I believe you get different thicknesses. I believe 12mm and 16mm? I have the 12mm which is fine for my warmblood with sensitive mouth and huge tongue
 
Hmmm not very impressed with the NS site - next to the description it says:

Price: £38.00Including VAT at 17.5%

Then when you go to check out VAT is added on!
 
I bought the Team-Up for my 6y.o. gelding and am happy with the way he is going in it. I'm thinking of trying the Tranz for my mare who is very fussy in the mouth.
