After long chats with Heather at Neue Schule (lovely lady, so helpful), I took the plunge and bought a Universal bit, all with the hope of stopping my mare leaning so much and being so heavy in front when doing xc etc. Using it tomorrow for the first time...

Just wonder if anyone has any experience of this bit and what they think.....I'd be interested to find out!

Many thanks

I have one, changed pickle into a different horse! used to be completely unable to hold him out hacking and never took him far, mainly stuck to an hour max. Two weeks after getting the NS universal I took him on a 3 hr ride on bank holiday, where we saw kites, paragliders and lots of nice galloping fields, we had control the whole time

HIGHLY reccommended

I have one after recommendations on here and from friends. Pony is completely different in it! I didnt want something too strong as he backs off strong bits, but jumping he gets heavy and flat, but this bit is magic, his canter has improved tenfold since having it, i can keep him in a nice rhythm before and after a fence and i can half halt him without him completely ignoring me or stopping dead! We have the waterford mouthpiece though.
They are fantastic bits, so versitile!

I used to use one on my eventer, we needed more than just a french link to go xc but nothing too harsh, worked a treat for him. Without it we had a constant pulling match with him leaning and running, in the universal he didnt lean or pull resulting in both of us being much happier. As Heather's marketing says "a useful bit of kit".
