Just wondering about this bit? Is it just a fancy dutch gag, or is it good?

I used the waterford version, on my carthorse who tends to get faster and flatter over courses. It's been fantastic, with a dutch gag it was holding him up too much and he became sticky over fences, but a snaffle wasn't enough and he would plough off after landing. Now I can sit quitely on landing and he comes back to me without a fight.
I know a lot of people that don't like dutch gags, but love NS universals! Plus they have an immense amount of options with the curb strap etc.

This is a 'mild' gag and is good for horses which lean, which my horse does, but has a soft, snaffle mouth.

The rings are off set so there is less of a 'gag' action and the trans-lozenge means the bit does not jab the roof of the horse's mouth.

I like the different rein options with/without the curb strap.

I am not a fan of traditional gags, but I like this one.
