OH and I went out for a ride today, we were out for perhaps a couple of hours and towards the end the toes on my left foot were going numb. OH said he was experiencing the same problem on his right foot.

So, is it something to do with our riding position? OH has only had his second ride today and his heels still need to come down so has a totally different leg/foot postion to me.

Any ideas?

i get that sometimes, just wiggle your toes.

but perhaps you have become too set in your stirrups, try some no stirrup work, to help keep a bit more weight in your seat

Yes - always my left foot!

It's not my boots because it happens whatever boots I am wearing - so it must be my leg/foot position! Will have to work on it!

I get numb feet if I go for a long hack too. It goes away if I take my feet out of the stirrups and wiggle them for a few minutes though! I found that using flatter stirrup treads helped as well.

Hinteresting, 'twas always my left foot until I was wrenched straight by the osteopath, now I don't get it, so I would assume it's a position thing.

I used to get it in both feet, but since getting the Sprenger stirrups I haven't had a problem

I get numb toes on both feet if I ride for over about half an hour in normal stirrup irons (most horses at work have normal ones). My own saddle has Sprenger Bow Balance irons on, and some of my boss's saddles have the straight Sprenger ones, and I don't get numb toes (or aching ankles and knees) when I ride in those

I got this (both feet) when I started to ride again after breaking my left ankle. On a long picnic ride I had to get off and walk around and then at the 2nd stop my feet were so numb that I had to ask the person who had driven the food to the venue to swap, so she rode my horse home and I drove her van. I then got some Metlab stirrups, which are similar to Sprenger but cheaper and the problem seems to be sorted.
