Numnah/half pad that's only padded at the front?

I normally ride with a prolite pad under my GP saddle as my horse has slight dips around his wither so I need to keep the saddle up slightly at the front to stop the saddle dropping at the front and therefore rising at the back.

As he's muscling up the pad is now slightly too tight but without the bad the saddle is still slightly too low at the front - It's an adjustable T4 with fish but I think putting the fish in will make it too narrow as will reducing the gullet so I need something inbetween.

I have a rambo halfpad but it's too padded at the back and really doesn't let the saddle sit correctly - my friend has loaned me her poly pad which seems to work but I've not heard great things about them in general and would prefer to find another option if possible.

Does anyone know of a numnah/saddle cloth that is padded slightly at the front but not the back and may do the trick?

My other option is to put the wider gullet on and put the prolite back under with shims but that's not the ideal solution!

I also have tonnes of gamgee that I could stitch on to the numnah but I'm slightly worried that I'd make a mess of it and make matters worse!

Any ideas welcome!

Sounds to me like a visit from the saddler is needed I'm afraid. I would much rather do that and know that I have the saddle fitted properly than hash something together with pads. I definitely wouldn't stitch gamgee onto a numnah at any point

Saddler has been consulted and agrees with what we're trying thanks.

I have the same issues at the moment. I have a cob t4 saddle and i have a prolite wither pad under the front and also a thinner piece of prolite as extra on the right as he has less muscle there. This is because my saddle did not warrant a smaller gullet just something to lift the front slightly. My saddler is in the process of stitching some pockets on a plain saddlepad so i can put different thicknesses of prolite in as i need them to go with his changing shape. By what i can see so far you can get varying thicknesses of prolite. See if you can get a narrower piece and get your saddler or yourself to stitch pockets on a thin saddle cloth. Another lady at my yard has this done and it works really well for her.

Thanks - saddler had suggested butchering the prolite pad so that it was only padding the dips rather than down towards his shoulder - this is where it's tight as although he's not got a wide back or wither his shoulders are massive just now! Will speak to saddler and see if she can do this - I suspect she'll be able to!

Flo_Bell - it's the prolite front riser I've got - used to have 2 shims in either side and was able to remove them as he muscled up so it's just the pad it'self now that he has on but it's just a tad too long and make it a bit tight round his shoulders although fits perfectly at the gullet/wither.

Have you looked at the BALANCE International website? Their saddling system is designed to combat this kind of problem and they have various pads that would help.
