I’m looking to pick all you wonderful peoples brains….
When I was a child (feels like many moons ago) I rode a pony for a lady, who had a saddle pad that had a “pocket” which the saddle flap that is in contact with the horse went in and the girth straps went over the top, it was to protect the leather from being marked by the girth and buckles.
I have never seen them since, does anyone know if these are still a thing and what they are called or where to get one from.
I have mentioned it to a few friends and everyone looks at me as if I’ve imagined it.

I've not seen one in 14 years of saddle fitting, though didn't see one a a child either (80s) to be fair. I do have a customer who uses two buckle guards each side, one under the girth straps and one over, though bear in mind anything in this area actually makes the rider's leg go forwards - a great boon for a wider hipped rider on a slight ribcage, but not desirable for many people who might already be fighting a chair seat.
