So I'm looking to get a new hat for competitions, but am totally new to affiliated rules and don't want to end up with the wrong thing.

When I was at Olympia I tried a bunch of hats on and found the Kask ones to be super comfy and the best fit for my pea-sized head. The question now is which colour do I go for? I really like this one - http://www.classicdressage.com/1355/builder/kask-dogma-light-chrome---brown.aspx but would a brown hat be frowned upon?

If it makes any difference, horse is chestnut and I have black Konig boots. Was planning to wear my navy show jacket, but judging by what I've read in the rules I guess if I go with a brown hat I would need to have a brown jacket?

Any help would be much appreciated as I'm beginning to think I need to be a rocket scientist to understand half the rules x

Brown hat with a navy jacket and black boots might look a little strange, but from what I remember it oughtn't technically be against the rules.

Thanks guys. I've found a brown jacket in the sales that I like the look of, but am a little worried that brown would only really suit my chestnut lad (not that I'm looking at getting another...honest!) and that if I did "hypothetically" have a second horse of a different colour I'd end up having to get a navy hat anyway. Am seeing my trainer tonight so might show her my options and get her to help me decide.
