I think me and the boy reached a new level in numpty-ness yesterday.
I have to take him through a few electric fences to get back to his paddock. One of the cables had come out of the fence clips and was looping close to the ground. As I picked the handle up I lifted it higher to try and get the fence back into the clip on the post.
At this point my daft chestnut stuck his head over my shouder to see what I was up to and the hook on the handle got stuck on his head collar - he jumped back pulling the handle out of my hand.
Now out of reach the poor fella got shock after shock through his head. Fortunately this didn't go on for to long as he went back pulling the fent out until the connection from the battery off and also the hook free. He then entertained himself with the horse in that paddock while I sorted the mess.
