A quick one!!

Have dressage tomorrow and want to carry a schooling whip. Never have before as havent needed to but think i might need it tomorrow (boy been nutty and a bit nappy)

Is it ik to carry one (Intro test) and do i need to change it from hand to hand according to which rein im on? (really hope not as he Hates that!!_

Oh, and have had disaster with dressage numnah so have to use GP! will i lose marks?

Hiya,

Good luck for your test!

British Dressage rules say you can carry a whip so thats fine. Just remember when you salute don't salute with the hand your whip is in as this will lose you marks!

With the numnah, I'm assuming you have a dressage saddle and not GP from what you've said? I doubt they'll mark you down but it can look untidy. Do you have one you can borrow from anybody?

I'm sure it won't be a problem in the slightest, it just completes the overall picture.

You'll be fine to use a whip.

Don't need to change it, but make sure when you salute you do it with the hand not holding the whip!

The GP numnah will be ok - it looks better with a square dressage one, but they won't take marks off :)

Good luck!

I carry a schooling whip when doing dressage and usually carry it in the hand that follows which rein you will be on when turning off the centre line, so that its in the inside hand. I usually change it over when doing free walk on a long rein.

Your numnah wont cost you any marks atall.

Good luck. (Ive only done Prelim so dont suppose your test will be any different)
