Just seen this advert and wondered if it's a good deal or not:
(I have blanked out details in case I get in trouble for copying an advert).

"Horse haylage very good quality all bales are round . Bales size 3ft 6 inch wide width 3ft about 175klg can be pushed with ease to move we can deliver. Up to 80 miles from **** cost per bale meadow haylage £25.00 cost per bale rye grass first cut £30.

And if a good deal, which should I go for - Meadow, or rye grass? Both my horses are good doers. I have to feed Harvey Haylage for his breathing and don't have storage for both hay and haylage, so Nemo will have to have it too.

Thanks for your assistance as usual :)

Sounds about the going rate to me paid £30 for mine (square but a similar weight) I like rye grass but have meadow this year ( cheaper could only get rye in small bales £7 each use one 1/2 per day eeek

Oh I'm on Norfolk and the horses seem to like meadow better I'm only feeding hay at night as still have plenty of grass I have 3 on adlib old pony , big tb and yearling and one (cob a lob) on 1 big haynet and it's lasted me all week

Rye grass really isn't what horses were designed to eat - it's cattle grass because it is mostly leaf and not a lot of stalk. If yours are good doers, I'd personally go for meadow grass given a choice.

I would also go for the meadow - rye grass commonly has more protein/energy so can be quite heating unless your horses are in hard work!

Where I live that would be quite expensive - our 300kg bales cost £30 each.

I'm on rye as I keep my 2 at home and so have to have small bales - can't get small bale meadow here. BUT I would prefer meadow.

Found another supplier relatively locally with 275kg bales of rye which suppier says is specifically grown for horses at £46 per bale. Free delivery if 4 or more ordered. The cheaper supplier charges £40 for delivery, but don't know how many I would have to order.
