Yes I sound stupid....

Have stressage today, I've learnt the test, Genie's capable of it etc

BUT....

I'm worrying about the halt and immobility for four seconds in movement 4! I'm terrified I'll rush and be too short, or be sat there for aaaaaages!

So, what are your methods for counting seconds?

*gratuitous breakfast to anyone who replies*

Stop square on halt and breathe: One Alligator <pause> Two Alligator <pause> Three Alligator <pause> Four Alligator squeeze legs and go.

(Can I have coffee with mine?)

I use 1 - Mississippi etc. Same number of syllables as Alligator - I guess you can use any word you like!

Strong coffee for me please and I don't suppose you have any choccie biccies going do you?

I use Mississippi too, but as it is early morning, I wasnt sure I could spell it! LOL

How about Triscadecaphobic One, Triscadeca....

Never mind, I can't spell that word either?

One sweetex in mine if the coffee's not hair raising strong...two if it is! ta

One elephant, two elephant etc.
Unless you only pause for a heartbeat, or you stand there for five minutes, I don't think the judge will worry too much. I think they are looking for a well established halt, short pause and then move off again.

It really doesn't matter too much - I think what is important is that you are seen to have halted for a measured time. What the judges want to see is that the horse is clearly moving off when you have asked him to and not just got fed up in the halt! If it ends up being a three or five second halt with a clearly requested move off, then you'll be fine.

Thanks all! Our halt was ok in the end! She was distracted all the way through the test though so not really concentrating! However we got 66% and 5th place!

My sharer got 1 mark more than me (Genie was more settled as she'd seen everything at that point!) and got 3rd.

My sharer's prelim was not quite so good I'm afraid... I was writing for the judge and wrote down comments such as 'try to stay in the arena' and 'no need to jump the flowers, but well sat'... Genie got rather keen!

1 missisippi elephant, two missisippi elephant... I can say the m-word easier than I can spell it! Said them quite quickly while Genie had a good look around.
