As above really. Apologies for the numptiness, it's just I haven't bought new ones for ages but now all of mine are wearing out and I'm trying to buy online! (makes sheepish face)

Johdpurs are meant to be worn with short boots and go right to the bottom of the ankles with a turned up cuff.

Breeches are meant to be worn with long boots and fasten ususally abound mid calf, unless you're a shorty like me and they fasten around your ankles. :o

As far as i know, jodhpurs are full length, to be worn with short boots, and breeches finish just below the widest part of your calf, fasten with velcro there, and are to be worn with long boots.

Hope that helps :)

Ha, I never knew that either! I thought originally that breeches were generally the looser fitting ones (that you see at BSJA normally), they must just be super thin-legged people ;)

If you want to just wear boots jodhs are the thing, however the turn up can be very bulky under chaps and pinch your ankles. Buy a pair of each! :)

If you wear chaps then you want breeches or you will have an extra fold of material to get the bottom of the chap over! I haven't yet found a pair of breeches that finish mid calf - all mine seem to be almost ankle length and I know (from my trainer and saddlers comments) that I am long legged. Unfortunately its all calve and not thigh.. Julia Roberts can SO rest easy...

ahhh thats so interesting!!!

I always thought johds had knee patches and breeches had full seats lol!!

Come to think of it, the breeches (full seat) i just bought, fit my leg nicely, but my johds i need to turn up :p
