Since starting to study for BHS exams I realise I've been tacking up wrong all these years and have a few really dumb questions...

When the BHS manuals say to untie the quick release knot in the horse's leadrope when putting on the bridle (or brushing face), where do you put the end of it as it will surely be then hanging on the ground?! And to drape or wrap it over anything defeats the whole point?! Surely to unclip the leadrope from the head collar at this point makes more sense, but that is not what my Bible, sorry book, says ;)

And when using a martingale, what is the correct sequence of tacking up?

Many thanks, any other tips for Stage 1 and 2 welcomed :)

think you're just meant to leave it though the twine loose just undo your quick release knot - if that makes sense

When I do this though the end is long enough to hang on the ground, whilst through the string. Is this correct?? Seems more dangerous to me if horse was to tread on it? Hence I'm always tempted to drape the end over the bit attached to the headcollar, if you see what I mean?! Sorry I know this is really pedantic!!

I'd adjust the rope so that it's half and half through the twine on each side, that way it doesn't touch the ground. I've never had a ground touching problem doing this though- our lead ropes mustn't be that long! lol.

Not sure of the 'official' order with a martingale. Surely it must be neckstrap over first, lead rein through it then retie the qr knot onto the twine loop? It's the only way I can picture doing it...
