Just going dark here and have just watched the same girl who brought 2 horses in while on her phone (on the road) leave on a road hack on a bay in black clothes. The immediate lanes around here are dark, narrow and windy at the best of times.

Feel sorry for the poor person who runs into her, who will technically get the blame and feel terrible even tho there's not much you can do to see in the dark!

This is why I posted a rant post the other day. I met 2 people (walking, not riding) and nearly ran into them.

I swear some people have no sense what so ever!!!

You could argue that the world needs less stupid people and its just natural selection... Or is that a bit too un-PC?

Can't understand why you'd put your horse at risk. Fair enough if you want to get run over, but don't risk your horse :(

I agree completely tallyho.

When I left at 5.45 with my full beams on and snowing... She still wasn't back. Definite Darwin award LiR. Just glad I didn't meet her, may have a word with the owner at some point just to keep an eye. Watched the same girl lunge a pony a few weeks back... The thing spent the whole time charging her and rearing. Never been an issue before she started and was definitely her end the problem was at. Amazed the lunge didn't end up wrapped around her or pony!

And just remembered her dog OH almost took out in the snow when it charged into the road and under his pick up.

Used to love watching the last girl with them!

Trouble is, she might cause an accident which kills or maims other road users too. Not to mention her poor horse.

eta the cross face wasn't at you, Tallyho! :D

No worries Bill :D

Yes there's that, although I'd like to think chances of survival of the driver are significantly higher.

Anyway, it was tongue in cheek, it's just beyond words really to justify riding on roads with no hi-vis in this day and age... Precisely for the very reason you just mentioned! I'm mad too!!!

Afterthought.... You know how cyclists can theoretically be done for no lights by the police? It ought to be a legal requirement for riders to be adequately visible to motorists. That certainly will put the cat among the pigeons as insurers will be forced to nullify any accident that happens on the road where a rider was not wearing hi-vis.

The other week my dad and i were driving back from the yard. I live in the city so it's lit but as we came round the roundabout there was a man in a heap, screaming in the middle of the road. He'd literally just been hit off his bike by a land rover. It was so distressing to see :( anyway, point is he wasn't wearing any lights or hiviz and riding a bike on a very busy road, it was inevitable :(
I'm religious about hiviz!!

I saw a girl riding in the dark last night. She was wearing hi viz but the horse was not. It took me a good while to identify the fact she was on a horse. Its hard to tell perspective when there up ahead and its pitch black. Potentially quite dangerous!

And now passed joggers in black on the road... NEXT to a 6 foot wide pavement and verge.

At least one bonus in this weather is that rather than ramming me when I'm waiting to turn into my drive (apparently being stationary and sat on my brakes indicating is not enough of a warning that I probably won't have moved by the time they get to where I am for a fair few people) people coming the other direction are flashing my to go up the drive... I like the thoughtful people out in this weather!
