Just got back from a lovely day......

Did dressage yesterday and was so disappointed with my mark, but when I looked at the test sheet today i didnt have any collective marks put in

. Show organisers were really apologetic and even offered to give me a refund, but did go out of their way to contact the judge and find out what the hell was going on there!! Anyway, finally rang me back and amended my score by a few marks but still not convinced what my proper score should have been.

So todays show jumping, had 2 poles but i was dis-united going into the combination and so knocked both parts. trouble is, i havent yet learnt to trust the mare not to stop so am riding far too agressively round and at too fast a pace. She is very nappy and went through a stopping phase not long ago, so pleased we got round today!!

On to cross country....cant believe it, but I got out the start box without any tantrums!!!!

this is the first time (although this is only our 4th event together) that she has spun before the first jump and vertically reared for about a minute and attempted to chuck me off! Was so pleased, but really was aware of her rhythm going towards the first jump, and as soon as i felt a slight 'backing off' i gave her a smack and we were on our way!! whoppee!!

So jumped the first 4 lovely, and then almost jumped the novice fence at 5 as she clocked it and started pulling me towards it

had to really pull her away and tell her we werent doing that jump - still, glad she is keen!! Felt her back off slightly the log before the steep hill, so tapped her up a bit and we then went whizzing past the hill and had to do a big circle in the field after jumping the log. Took the alternative at 8 which she jumped lovely, and then went on to do everything else really nicely. Felt her start to get a bit tired at the chair, so backed off her and let her slow down a bit as didnt want to push her too much.

So we went clear, but did have 12.8 time which may not have been the case if i hadnt have circled in the field or taken the alternative at 8. Still thrilled to bits with her though as was quite a meaty course, and she behaved really well on both days considering the trouble we've had.

Saw Pootler, Prudance and Madhossy there - Well done Jo for coming 3rd!!!

I went to Nurstead saturday and walked the course, ooh your peeps are brave. That log at the bottom of the hill looked a bit 'arrh' and the steps to the double brush in novice very nerve racking
smile.gif
Well done for completing it!

I saw Pippa Funnell go round saturday afternoon on a lovely horse, he ver ynearly had her off in the starting box.

well done !
glad there was no rearing you are going forwards lol!
didnt realise PF was back in the saddle

Glad you got your Dressage mark sorted - did it make much difference to your final mark? I think you're girl has realised this eventing lark is FUN! Well done

Well done to you!! Did you managed to spruce yourself up for the prize giving, or did you wear your handbag on your head and pretend it was a hat?

They came back with a couple more marks on the dressage, so wouldnt really have made a difference. Still suspicious though about the whole marking! Was talking to my instructor about it, and another lady down our yard who does a lot of dressage and always gets over 65%, got judged by him last week and got 50%!!! She was completely baffled, and some of the comments didnt make any sense at all. Bloody stressage!!

Have sent you a pm. Your collectives were reasonable, so should have made a significant difference to your score.

Oh good on ya.
Now youre cooking! Sounds far more positive and next time you may be tempted to jump direct.
Its very hard when you have a horse thats gone through a stage of nappyness or stopping. Its hard to gain that trust again. But this sounds very promising

Many congrats for having a good day.

Im shocked at the dressage judge tho, thats awful!

Thats the whole thing with it at the moment, i still dont trust her yet not to run out when she can, hence why im probably riding a bit too aggressively with her...she needs this for xc, especially coming out start box, but need to refine the sj!

Will be doing BSJA over June, so will try and regain some trust in her then

No tantrums - that must be the highlight of it all
laugh.gif

Still cannot believe your dressage score - with all that money that goes into running a horse at affiliated events you would think they would pay more attention to the scoring

Not sure what's shocking or awful. A genuine mistake that was corrected.

After judging a full day and running a two-day dressage show, he remembered you without any problem. So keep smiling because he really noticed it and it made you stand out from the crowd.

Is that to me?
confused.gif
I didn't say it was shocking. I simply thought that when you spend about £100 to event your horse it is nice to have a feedback on how it has done. I understand what hard work it is to be involved in running events as done it myself (haven't judged but did a lot of running around and helping and was not paid for it) so I am not undermining the judge's input at all.

Well done

Bit of a bummer about the dressage marks though

Its Ali with Joe by the way *waves*

I have to say I have just worked out who you are

Sounds like marey is turning over a new leaf

Hi Hammie

Turned up in all my gear just as they were announcing the 10th placed person, so crept into the throng and hoped no one noticed!

Shocked at the judge, or the systemic failure of all the various checks and balances that are in place to make sure that a mistake of that nature is corrected before it reaches the competitor.

Did the chief dressage steward not check the form before it was released to the scorers?

How on earth atleast two of the team of official scorers add up the sheet and not notice that the collective marks weren't there?

Don't blame JUST the judge; who after all is trying to rattle thru 40 or so riders in quite quick succession - none of whom really want to be doing dressage.
