Finally, in our last ever PN (hopefully) everything decides to come together.
Set off for Nurstead OPN yesterday in the hope that nothing would go wrong in the Show Jumping, and we'd have a safe Cross Country Round. Mum had set me a target of a DC, otherwise i couldn't go novice at downham!
Got to dressage and, as madhector said, flies were dreadful! Not a great test, but some lovely bits. In the first canter he got bugged by a fly, hence a 4
, and i didnt ride into the last halt. 36.5 was reasonable, but room for improvement. Ho Hum, off to walk XC. (also spotted Hattikins and Madhector but too shy to say hello
)
Cross coountry wasnt nice
verry trappy and didnt flow- lines to fences 3, 6, 7, and others just diconnected ytou from rhythm. Very easy though, no real questions for a XC machine! Also saw Sienna Myson-Davies have a near bad fall at 7, but managed to recollect before the bank
Showjumping, Showjumping, Showjumping. I was praying at this point. However, after some advice from Jules not to go in feeling unconfident, and from dad to take every fence as it comes, i went in. Was quite a nice course, same fences as Brightling where i had 5 down
... but, my 'pony' was a STAR! Jumped everything, gave some fences a MILE. Super clear and came out looking like
Cross Country- further to mums advice i decided to go slow(ish) abnd make sure of a clear. Dednt realise i was in with a chance of a placing! 1, 2, 3 and 4 he FLEW... and just made me realise how ready he is for a novice- we jumped the double of skinnies on the completely wrong line (rider error!) but just felt fab
Finished with 1 time... but not a problem. Think i spotted Sal86, as was talking to Andrew Gould (who i think she was grooming for). And also H_J, but was unaware it was her!
Waited 3 hours in hope of a placing, and got 9th! So chuffed- our 1st ever placing at BE
Now off to downham
for the Novice. But first i have 20 GCSE/AS exams to do
Apoligies for poor photo quality, only 1 groom
so had to take them off the video
A cup of tea and a crumpet to all who finished
