I had a 'off' day yesterday, mare performed a lovely test, (even noted on by selectors) and we received the most appalling mark that was totally unnecessary. All day I have had people texting going 'oh no' did your mare blow up in the dressage' and i'm like- for once NO!!! Typical... I have now decided that whether I do a good test or an atrocious test the dressage judges just simply hate me!
Oh the joys of eventing...
 
I know and thank you for your help - its just that there is no way she is tired she is bursting with energy fit and well, trainer always comments on how well she looks.

And loves her work, and I def will not run her on hard ground, Nurstead was the 1st run she has had on firm ground but there was a good grass coverin, I think it is just simply more mileage she needs, was just unlucky Nurstead was so bl**dy big!! Wish we had more Intros near us!!

I have decided we are saving up our super duper dressage score for Badminton one day.... *wishfulthinking*
 
Babies can get mentally tired - I am always happy to back off as they can come back with more of the jigsaw of knowledge joining up.

I thought hambledon was hard ground as WFP withdrew most of his?
 
No Hambledon dress and SJ was lovely and most of the XC was nice. WFP withdrew all his the next day as his stallion all that Jazz got loose the day b4 and tried to mount 2 mares!!!
 
Cheer up Holly, I think you worry too much about what people think - I do it too, too often for my own liking! Listen, analyse what you think rings true, but most of all listen to Spider - she will let you know what she needs.

I heard a few people had a stop at the pheasant feeder?

As for the jump before the steps, I schooled round there last year with my 10yr old and he found that jump to be far too scary!!

I think that maybe your horse felt confident to pop round a pre-novice, but nurstead probably wasnt a good choice compared to ones like munstead and pulborough, as 50% of the fences (actually i counted, there were 8 out of 18) were in the novice course. I actually think that it was probably more difficult this year compared to last!

She must be doing well though to have made it that far round the course!

Yes she was doing well and she wouldnt have had a problem with the rest, only had like 5 left! Oh well. I dont think she has lost confidence but just need to make sure she def doent lose it now and give her some confidence runs. Was almost like a Novice though!! But then the SJing was tiny!!!
 
compared to south of england, the show jumping was small, and perhaps looked more intro like

not that ive been BEing for that long, but i have noticed that if the sj is up to height, then xc isnt. and vice versa!! not true in every case, but does seem to be some correlation!
