My boys have been in fibre beet all winter with a bit of chaff. They both look fabulous even though they are on small amounts, but they are getting bored!! They go mad for their cheap and cheerful nuts in their treat balls!! Looking for some low energy nuts, high calorie would be good to maintain weight, that won't send them off their heads! Are spillers ulcer kind ok?

Simple systems red grass nuts are 22% protein but since its grass protein rather than grain protein it seems to not send them nutty.

Free delivery when you buy 3 bags where I live.

Harlequin pony cubes are cheap and contain vitamins/minerals. Also HJ Lea Oakes do one too but don't contain vitamins and minerals

The problem with any "complete" food that contains vitamins is that you would have to feed the full amount suggested to get the right amount of vitamins, and if you did that most horses would end up the size of a house. For vitamins, if you really need them, a balancer is usually a better bet.

I'm only suggesting cheap nuts! Some have vitamins in and others don't. So that's why I mentioned it. My horses get a powdered balancer daily in their feed. They get a low calorie chaff and low calorie grass nuts as a carrier. Then the cheap fibre nuts I mentioned in their treat ball.

I also give a range of supplements via their chaff/grass nuts (always wet so it's a mash consistency). They also have 2 salt licks and one salt and vitamin/mineral lick (not molasses based)

Regarding nuts Harlequin also do conditioning cubes if you want something with more calories
