Checking the horses just now I noticed that Robin was stood by the fence and didn't even try to come to see me. On closer inspection I found that she had attached herself to a strand of wire by the clips on the front of her rug

It is a good thing that she is a quiet old bean and didn't panic, bless her.
All the clips are coming off my rugs tomorrow.

So, just a warning, if you have any wire fencing, and your horses rugs have clip fastenings on the front, keep an eye out!

Mine like doing this trick as well , I have started to take the clips off the front (if possible) and feed the strap direct to through the rings and back to the buckles

. Mine also like to attach themselves by the leg straps in the same way and then try and walk away ripping the rugs, I keep finding leg straps attached to the fence and torn rugs, so I try to remember to clip the leg straps on so the clip is facing inwards rather than outwards, which has reduced the number of breakages but not stopped it

One of my girls managed to attach herself to her haynet with her front clip, I normally make sure that they face inwards, I'm sure Horseware have a warning about this, thankfully we don't have wire at our yard..........

I always face the clips inwards, that way they can't get hooked on anything.

(My OH thinks i am nuts for doing this, but OP just proves there is method to my madness!!)

My little boy managed to take the front straps off his WB Taka the other week. The front clips were the twist-in hooks like on the surcingles and he got one caught as he was brushing past the fence. Although, he does manage to destroy all rugs regardless of straps and clips so he might not be the best example!!

dont need to take clips off, just face them inwards as they are intended!! - with catch facing horses chest instead of fence, does this make sense??

facing the clips makes perfect sense

except it goes against the grain. From sheer force of habit I always face clips away from the horse, like I would with lead rope clips if I used them anymore.

Taken them all off now anyway.......dumb, I had wet hands and my fingers were freezing to them

I am sure they will come in handy for something.
