I emailed Jamie Pyatt after seeing another member had got nowhere with him...

Hi, Have just got in and too tired to have a read tonight, will look in the morning. It was not a case of Gray not turning up in court just to make sure facts are straight, it was agreed in advance with prosecution to adjourn the case until Feb 4 so his presence was not required. After all the strength of feeling on all the forum's I was surprised that not one person made the effort to go along to the court to voice their opinions of this guy - forum's were full of people promising to be there. Like I said, will have a good look at that site in morning, regards J

Oh poo I thought there would be a few people turn up. If anyone hears when the next one is likely to be lets start a thread on here (and any other forums in all fairness) to try and drum up a protest - surely between all the forums there has got to be a fair few people within reasonable distance to go and make a point?! sounds like people like Jamie Pyatt will be there and might well consider it worth covering the story if there are people there to make a noise.

Love the signature!!!

If we all say we are going to turn up topless The Sun might be interested!

perhaps a protest on well kept horseback, so the sun sorry ment to say scum ( J Gray ) can see how horses and ponies should look

Now there's a thought!!! (I meant on the horseback on not the topless one!)

Maybe another reason no one went along today could be due to the fact the the current court case is for charges relating to assaulting a police officer and criminal damage and not to do with any thing regarding the horses!!!

*smirks in corner having visions of a "lets save the police force a bill and donate tyres campaign*

On a more serious note on this topic; yes, The Sun would love to see the horse community portrayed as a rabid screaming mob of vigilantes and that would get coverage, just like when they gleefully cover mobs stoning vans with paedophiles (or even innocent paediatricians!) in. But is that what we want? Are we not best to keep the more sensationalist red tops at bay and just carry on as we are, coming across as a motivated, committed and coherent group able and willing to help and just raising the profile of horse/animal welfare needs generally? Something does seem to have "clicked" over this.

Sorry if this comes across as a bit po-faced, it's not meant to. I just think everyone's doing such a magnificent job and beginning to get quality coverage from the equine press and the BBC and you don't want to spoil that.

That is SUCH a good idea, and wouldn't degenrate into a baying mob either.

Well said Cariad and you have echoed my opinon very well.....

This is our chance to show the whole of the country what an online community can do! We have no intentions of spoiling this, only to move it forwards and make it bigger and better!

Well said and I agree with you - after the comment yesterday I had from The Sun that we weren't newsworthy on our own and they needed another peg to hang us off I think you are right, they would love to portray us a bunch of screaming hooray henry hunting types baying for blood. - sorry for the stereotype

It could really turn into something that makes a long term difference in perception; perhaps not quite Bob Geldof status, but a mini-version!

Yes, you can just see it -"They can't hunt foxes so turn their bloodlust elsewhere" type of thing. Not what we want at all.

ok, on to better things and better press it is then!! - I wonder if the Independent would carry a story, hmm might try in a bit...
